Sometimes an album sneaks up on you. Through the bushes comes into your ear buds and then two or three songs into the album the ears perk up, attention is given and the jaw drops in awe. This time it was “The Hotel Year” and their album “It Never Goes Out” and the particular song was “An Ode to the Nite Ratz Club”. Got damn, that was one hell of a gut punch when I realized what the dude was singing about. It grabbed me and didn’t let me go again. That is probably one of those albums I listened to the most throughout late 2011 and all of 2012, seriously.
This one is by no means perfect. It has some faults as some songs are definitely better than others, but hey, when is that not the case? What is left is a great melodic punk album that has cemented its place in the list of albums that I will always return to and happily sing along. If those guys ever make it to Europe/Berlin I will be there. You bet your pretty butts on that!
You can get the album here! And give them some coins if you like the music!
